Heroic Times Had Passed Away?

What does this line even mean?

This line is very self-explanatory, the heroic times had passed away. People aren't taking time out of their own lives in order to do any sorts of 'kind acts'. Gentlemen acts that many previous young generation men did such as giving up your seat for the elderly, keeping the door open for others, are now barely being seen through todays society. Times had passed and basic gentlemen role-models and heroes whom many people look up too are gone, a great example of their disappearance is with young men in today's generation use Andrew Tate as a great role model.

If today's society is incapable of doing such small acts, then how can we trust them with much greater problems like, helping people who overall look like they are struggling either physically or mentally, even helping the homeless escape their life on the street. Yes, people still give a bit of change to these types of people yet does this money help them in the long-run? Does it solve them finding a home, a place to stay, and even maybe a job to give them. Such acts deserve to be called heroic as you're not helping them, you're changing their lives for the better. Though, do we see such heroes on Twitter, TikTok, or Instagram? No, rather we have influencers like Andrew Tate on the 'for you page' of TikTok rather than such heroes. Overall, I believe that these heroic times where we could find many admiring people have passed with time. We no longer see people willing to sacrifice their own time for others. Rather we are now seeing more and more people thinking about themselves rather than others now.

Why would someone think this?

ree

One would think like this due to modern society becoming more self-centered. Today's society had become increasingly toxic and self-centered. Thinking about others is now a second priority, rather worrying about someone else will increase the difficulty one may have with their own lives and thus many people wouldn’t take that risk at all. Such heroic people who embody their moral compass of kindness are much harder to find due to how harsh society became. With the increasing prices of inflation, an on going pandemic, an on going war currently happening, the increasing of gas prices, and the huge amount of unemployment had develop such society. It isn't anyone fault to think about self-preservation first as such major problems will be more prioritize rather than helping someone else. People are forced to think for themselves and became the main cause as to why one would think the heroic times have passed away. Afterall, kindness is a secondary task compared to all those major problems one may have to undergo.

Is heroism possible in contemporary society?

ree

Yes, heroism is still possible in contemporary society. Both the past and present of the word heroism is still given to many with all the same reason. Taking time out of their own lives in order to help others. Afterall no matter how hard, by taking your own time to tackle a major problem that can greatly help all of those around you will cause you to be called a hero. You'll always find some sort of problem in any type of society, no matter what. Thus because of that, heroism is still possible. Afterall all it takes is to think about others too not just yourself.

Where can I find today’s heroes?

Today heroes aren't as apparent as they once before. They can be found in a multitude of places. Such examples are those who are researching for a cure to cancer, people who tried their hardest to donate money to charities and raise such awareness, those people who try their hardest to raise awareness of how serve climate change is becoming, even people who taken time out of their own lives to help a random elderly deliver their groceries bags back home can already be called today’s heroes. Today’s heroes aren’t those massive superheroes that you can instantly recognize. Today's heroes are like Batman, those who do acts out of kindness not because they want to attain fame but rather just because they are kind. They are just the average person whom you might not find interesting and thus are unable what they are truly doing in the shadows. Just like Batman.
